Celebrating 70 Years of Magic: Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary
On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney welcomed the first guests through the gates of Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Seventy years later, Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebrates how that original dream has grown into a global phenomenon, and how Disneyland remains the heart of it all.
As a travel professional, I help families experience the magic of Disney every day. But there’s something extra special about the original park. Standing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, walking down Main Street, U.S.A., or watching fireworks burst behind the Partners statue; it’s all deeply nostalgic, meaningful, and of course, magical.
I’ve been fortunate to visit Disneyland several times, and each trip brings something new. Whether it’s eating beignets at Tiana’s Place, experiencing the charm of Fantasyland, or going on that wild ride with Mr. Toad, there’s a spark that only Disneyland delivers.

Why Disneyland Still Matters 70 Years Later
What makes Disneyland so special? It’s the blend of imagination, innovation, and heart. It’s a place where generations of families have created memories together, and where Walt Disney’s personal vision still shines through.
Today, Disneyland continues to evolve while honouring its past. Classic attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion sit alongside newer favourite lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Avengers Campus. This makes Disneyland a destination that truly has something for everyone.
My Personal Favourite Disneyland Moments
- Seeing the lamp in the window of the firestation on Main Street, U.S.A. and knowing that Walt Disney himself enjoyed that space
- Trying a Raspberry Rose Mickey Macaron from the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe for the first time
- Experiencing the Main Street Electrical Parade
- Watching the Encanto projections on “it’s a small world” while singing and dancing along with other guests

There’s no shortage of Disney magic in the world, but there’s only one original, still going strong at 70.
