How to Decide if the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is the Best One For You

It’s been a week since the Walt Disney Travel Company released its 2024 vacation packages with dining plans as an optional inclusion. Where previously, there were three different dining plans to choose from, there are now just two, simplifying the option for guests. You may now choose between the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.

What’s the difference? At Walt Disney World Resort, a “Quick Service” meal is one you order (or mobile order) at a counter in a theme park or resort, then sit down with your tray to enjoy your meal. Think cafeteria-style. You might also hear about “Table Service” meals at Walt Disney World, which is what you would expect at any restaurant when you’re seated by a hostess and taken care of by a waiter or waitress.

When you request a quote for your family to go on vacation at Walt Disney World Resort, I will include the cost to add either the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan to your vacation package.

What’s included in the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan?

The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan includes:

  • 1 Resort Refillable Drink Mug per guest
  • 2 quick service meals, per person, per night of your stay
  • 1 snack per person, per night of your stay

On a 7 night stay, for a travel party of 2, for example, you would receive a total of 28 meal credits and 14 snack credits to use throughout your vacation. You can use them on whatever days you wish throughout your stay.

Is the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan Worth It?

Many prospective clients ask me if I think the Quick Service Dining Plan is “worth it.” There are a lot of different ways to consider whether the dining plans have value, and of course one of them is the monetary cost.

You’ll see the cost for your travel party on your quote. I recommed breaking the cost down by the day, per person. Then, take a look at any of the menus with pricing in your My Disney Experience app to get an idea whether you think you would spend that amount per day on meals, snacks and drinks. When I’ve done this for my own family, compared to what we have spent on meals recently at Walt Disney World theme parks and hotels, it makes sense for us to purchase the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan.

Quick Service meals include an alcoholic beverage where offered, for guests age 21 and up. If you enjoy beer or wine with your meals while on vacation, this inclusion definitely adds a lot of value to the plan.

The Convenience Factor

The other thing to consider is convenience. When you’re on vacation, the last thing you want to think about is the price attached to each individual item on the menu. It’s so convenient to order a quick service meal, having whatever meal you want from the menu, without “nickle-and-diming” yourself. While there is certainly an average cost for a quick service meal, some menu items have a higher price than others. Order what you like, and enjoy.

Pay Before You Go

One of the biggest benefits to the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is that your food is paid for before your vacation begins, and you won’t come home to a large bill to pay after your vacation. As always, you may make payments toward your vacation when you book with me.

A couple of additional points to consider:

You may book your vacation package without including the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and add it at a later date if you’d like to give it some more thought. You can also upgrade to the Disney Dining Plan at a later date without penalty, if you wish.

If you’re planning to participate in special dining experiences such as character meals, you may wish to consider the Disney Dining Plan, instead, which includes these meals.

I hope this post has helped you decide whether the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is right for you and your family for your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
