Fly from Buffalo to Orlando for a More Relaxed Travel Experience
Living in the area of Southern Ontario has benefits when it comes to planning a vacation to Florida. There are many airports for us to choose from, including several that are located south of the border. Some of my clients choose to fly from Buffalo to Orlando, and that can be a great option.
In April, I tried this for myself when my colleague Kimberley and I decided to fly with Southwest down to Orlando for our Royal Caribbean cruise and Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
Here are several reasons I think it’s a great option for families to fly from Buffalo to Orlando.
The Customs Experience
When flying to Orlando out of Toronto, travelers must go through U.S. Customs in the airport on this side of the border. This can often be a long and frustrating experience, especially for early morning flights. When you fly from Buffalo to Orlando, you’ll go through customs in the comfort and quiet of your own vehicle rather than dealing with the long lines and crowds found at Pearson.
The Terminal Experience
The terminal at Buffalo Niagara International Airport is very quiet compared to those in Toronto. I also found it to be very clean. We also met the most awesome therapy dogs, who were working at the airport to help calm the nerves of anxious passengers.
Duration of the Flight
The flight from Buffalo to Orlando is shorter in duration, at approximately two hours. Families will be on the ground in Orlando and over to the resort in no time.
The flight from Buffalo to Orlando is domestic flight, so less time is needed in the airport itself prior to departure. Travelers are advised to arrive two hours prior to their flight as opposed to the 3 or 4 hours currently suggested for international departures from Toronto.
Airline Selection
I recommend families explore Southwest as an option for a flight to Orlando out of Buffalo. In my experience, it offers a lot of flexibility, fantastic seat sales and excellent terms and conditions. The first two checked bags are included in your fare, which can be a huge money-saver for families.
Pre-flight Hotel Options
Kimberley and I spent the night prior to our flight at the Hampton Inn and Suites which is located just across the street from the airport. Parking was included in our stay, and there was a shuttle to take us to the airport and back. There are many hotels nearby with similar rates and benefits.
I would definitely consider a flight from Buffalo to Orlando the next time my family heads to Florida. Would these factors influence you in your airport choice on your next vacation to the Central Florida Area?
