14 Reasons to Love Disney’s Old Key West Resort
In January, I had the pleasure of visiting Disney’s Old Key West Resort and touring one of the 2-bedroom villas there. I was absolutely charmed by the resort’s atmosphere, theme and amenities. My family and I are considering staying at this resort in the near future, perhaps even with some extended family, since the 2-bedroom villa would be the perfect size for us all to vacation together.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a deluxe resort in the Disney Springs area with a Florida Keys theme. While many folks prefer to stay at a resort that is closer to the four main Disney theme parks, there are a lot of reasons to love Disney’s Old Key West Resort, as well.
Reasons to Love Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- The rooms at Disney’s Old Key West Resort are spacious and recently refurbished.
- If you’re driving to Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll be able to park close to your room. This makes it so much easier to load and unload your vehicle, and if you choose to drive to the theme parks, you will be so happy to get out of the car and walk right to your hotel room door.
- There are no elevators at this resort, but the villas are three stories at the most. You may request a ground-floor room if the stairs are an issue for you (always a request, never a guarantee).
- Villas have their own private patio with a ceiling fan, with an entrance off the kitchen.
- The table service restaurant at this resort is called Olivia’s Café and it is known for having the best fried chicken on Disney property.
- The main pool has an amazing waterslide in the shape of a giant sand castle and beach area for kiddos to play at, with a bar nearby for the grown-ups called the Gurgling Suitcase.
- There is a quiet pool located in each section of the resort.
- Many guests who have stayed at Disney’s Old Key West Resort describe the atmosphere as relaxing, laid-back, peaceful or calming. This is not a frenzied property. The colour scheme is very soothing, with an island vibe.
- There is a boat that guests can ride over to Disney Springs.
- Some folks find that this resort feels more central to all parts of Walt Disney World Resort property, including Disney Springs and the theme parks.
- The gardens are filled with lush, colourful tropical plants.
- Some rooms have a view of the adjacent Lake Buena Vista Golf Course or water.
- On a similar note, if you enjoy playing golf, you’ll love to be so close to the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.
- The villas at this resort feature in-room laundry facilities and either a kitchenette or full kitchen, depending upon the size.
