Review: Our Fun Character Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera, is one of the most popular character dining experiences currently available at Walt Disney World Resort. The restaurant itself is located at the top of Disney’s Riviera Resort, with spectacular views of the resort grounds and other parts of the Walt Disney World property.
Date of Our Visit for Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
Our family stayed as guests at Disney’s Riviera Resort in early January of 2020, prior to the start of the coronavirus pandemic. We enjoyed breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace during our stay. In this review, I’ll make note of any changes made due to the “Know Before You Go” policies at Walt Disney World.
Hours of Service and Reservations
Breakfast is available at Topolino’s Terrace from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm. Although a walk-up list is available through the My Disney Experience app, reservations are highly recommended. Reservations may be made up to 60 days in advance.
How to Get to Topolino’s Terrace
Guests of a Walt Disney World Resort hotel may use Disney transportation to get to Disney’s Riviera Resort. There is a Disney Skyliner station right at the resort, so guests who are traveling to the restaurant from either EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios will find this method easiest.
Guests of Disney’s Pop Century Resort or Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will find Disney Skyliner the easiest way to get to the resort, while guests of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort can simply walk over.
Depending on the time of your reservation, it may be easiest to travel to Disney’s Riviera Resort from other locations on property by a ride share service such as Uber or Lyft. Otherwise, you may need to travel to one of the Walt Disney World theme parks before transferring to a route that leads to Disney’s Riviera Resort. Off-site and on-site guests traveling by car will need to provide proof of a reservation in order to enter the hotel property and park on site.

The basket includes danish, chocolate chip muffin, croissant, Epi bread and a trio of spreads that include honey-butter, house-made jam and a chocolate-hazelnut spread that is similar to Nutella. These goodies will be replenished upon request.
Food Allergies, Preferences and Sensitivities
The menu for breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace includes options for for those with allergies to:
- Gluten/Wheat
- Egg

- Peanut/Tree Nut
- Soy
Plant-based menu options are available.
What did we eat for breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace?
For my breakfast, I chose the Sour Cream Waffle: Roasted Apple, Chantilly, Orange-Maple Syrup, and served with choice of Smoked Bacon, Ham, Sausage, or Plant-based Sausage. I opted for the plant-based sausage as my meat choice, and it was delicious. I also had a mimosa with my breakfast, which made it feel even more special.
My husband chose the Smoked Salmon: Everything Bagel, Tomato, Red Onion, Cream Cheese, Capers.
Our son, who was 10 at the time, had to order from the main menu. We were on the Disney Dining Plan during our trip, and he was too old for the children’s menu. However, the main menu items didn’t appeal to him, so we were able to order an adult portion of the Mickey Waffles with Dippers that normally appear on the children’s menu, served with a side of bacon.
Character Appearances
During breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace, guests will enjoy seeing Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Donald Duck make special appearances. All four characters clap and dance along with a themed song that’s played over the restaurant’s loudspeakers. Guests are encouraged to sing and clap along. The characters are each dressed as a different kind of artist. Mickey is a painter, Minnie is a writer, Donald is a sculptor and Daisy is a dancer. The characters do not appear during dinner service.
At the time of our visit, these characters all stopped by our table for personal interactions and photographs. However, since the pandemic, characters will now allow guests to take a selfie-style photograph, but social distancing is practiced.
Considerations for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities
Although the character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is a lot of fun, the singing and clapping and loud music that is present may be too intense for some guests who have sensitivities to loud sounds or challenges with transitioning from a regular restaurant experience into the entertainment segment of the dining experience.
In the short video below, you’ll see what to expect during the character appearances during breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace.
We would absolutely visit Topolino’s Terrace for breakfast again on a future vacation to Walt Disney World Resort! The food was great and the coffee was the best I have ever had on Disney property. In my opinion, this character dining experience is one of the best ones at Walt Disney World, and worth what could be an early morning trek over to Disney’s Riviera Resort. I will continue to recommend this dining experience, especially for my clients who are staying at a hotel in the area.
